Also you can measure the front of the reciever ring and if it is 1.4ish it is a large ring. If it is 1.3ish it is a small ring. Also measure the reeciever stock screws.

Disassemble the bolt, measure the firing pin protrusion and work backwards. Someone gave me an old 98 Mauser a while back. It has no markings on it except for serial #4924 on the bolt and the receiver. The guy that gave it to me said that it was Polish from WW1.
