If you can find a CDI (capacitor discharge ignition) from the 1960's using the vehicles stock ignition points as the trigger, you could utilize it with a magneto. A number of folks installed this type CDI in their vehicles and swore by them.

OF COURSE 12v stuff is easier to find and a system-wide conversion to 12v would be easier (and probably cheaper) than a separate 6 to 12 dc to dc converter and circuit. I personally don't take any small non seatbelted/rollbared tractors on the road or out at night. Be safe!
