I think the XDS did really well considering it's a sub-compact, a 45 cal, and it's my first time shooting it. Now if you are also looking at the XDS in 9mm, then I may be persuaded to the XDS 9mm. I have, shoot and carry Glock 26 often and its a joy to shoot.

It will also give you the option to get the grip length of the regular 43 with a 7 round mag or a more full grip with the 8 or 9 rounders.
