I've seen the problem worse on Deere's 1780 style planter with the longer hitch on the 6/11 or 8/15 planters causing more side pressure on turns. I've always welded the units with no long term problems. The max emerge XP cast shanks first used in 2004 don't have this problem.

Looking at a JD 1780 Planter. As long as you're going to use all the row units it's not too bad of planter. I have a 2002 1780 12/23 we bought new. I've said most of this before but still feel it's a decent soybean planter and below average corn planter (too heavy with the row units "up" ).On the the Deere 7240 and 1780 interplant planter there was a kit available to hold up the row unit. ...
