June 23rd, 1996 (Sunday) Homeless man is digging through a dumpster looking for stuff behind the apartment building at 1091 Boylston Street. He opens a bag and finds the top half of Karina Holmer body, totally cleaned with makeup removed. She was strangled to death and then sawed in half at the waist, some say to cover up a rape. Karina Holmer, a young Swede from the small village of Alaryd, had won $1,500 with a lottery ticket. She dreamed of traveling, so she came to the United States to have fun for a little while. She arrived in the United States in March 1996 and began working as a nanny for Frank Rapp and Susan Nichter, who lived in Dover, Massachusetts.
