Stopped at drive thru and cut off truck to hear (diesel ) when restarted motor and put into drive , showed transmission in 4th gear. cut engine off , waited a few minutes and restarted went back to drive all back to normal but engine light remains on.Yes - P0783 3-4 shift. Functional Operation; 4th gear operation is provided electrically through the OD solenoid. The PCM monitors the engine RPM's when it commands the 3-4 shift. If the engine RPM's do not drop within 4 seconds of the 3-4 shift being commanded by the PCM, code P0783 will set after three concecutive failed shifts.problems shifting into 2nd gear. I have a 2006 Ram 2500 with the 5.9 and auto transmission. Great truck so far, only 108,000 miles. Yesterday it had a hard time shifting to 2nd gear. It would go to over 3,000 rpm and only 25mph. Sometimes it would shift into 2nd, but not always. Then it threw a P2509 engine code (ECM/ PCM Power …I have a 6-speed automatic transmission. The transmission went to 4th and skidded the tires significant enough to create smoke from the tires. Downshifting from 6th to 4th at 65 (or even 75+) mph shouldn't cause the tires to lock up. It might cause a 1500 +/- rpm jump, but that should be nowhere close to tire lockup.

Code is P0750 which is the Shifter solenoid. Truck doesn't even have 5000. miles on it yet and they got to replace this part. I think damage has already. been done by how many times it has made this loud hard clunk and gone into. 4th gear manual shift mode. I drop it off at the dealership today.

OD is still used in 4th gear, but it only has to hold about 60% of the torque (versus 100% in 5th and 6th), so it sounds like it can still hold that OK. You should be able to drive it (if you use ERS "4" so it doesn't try to shift to 5th, and drive gently), but sooner or later it will probably fail completely.

The transmission did not start out in 1st felt and remained stuck in what felt like 3rd or 4th. I drove home slowly about 2 miles and turned it off. Started up no traction control light but check engine is still on. Shift to drive and now it starts in 1st gear as it should. Thoughts and opinions please.

Feb 9, 2024 · Pulled over and truck went into 1st gear. Pulled out and would not shift out of 1st. Limped back to the house about 7 miles in 1st. OD is on in 4th, 5th, and 6th gears. It only carries about 60% of the input torque in 4th gear (it carries 100% in 5th and 6th), so if it neutrals out in 4th, that is unusual. That is, if your clutch is going south, usually it will first start slipping in 5th and 6th (where it carries more torque).I am not hard on the truck and changed the fluid and filters at 100k. It doesnt make any attempt to move in drive, but also doesnt make any noises. Also, putting the transmission in a particular gear using the selection doesnt make a difference. Fixing the problem

So if you use a 2011+ solenoid (or trans) in a 2007-2010 truck, you will blow continual P0760 (OD Solenoid Circuit) faults, since in the newer solenoid module there IS NO OD SOLENOID. So that would be my first suspicion. The 2011+ solenoid module has a GRAY wiring connector. When stuck in 4th the tranny temp will reach upwards of 240 degrees. The only way to correct it is to pull over and turn truck off for 5-10 minutes and then restart it. Seems to be a computer control issue or something to that effect because all the parts inside the transmission are new.

A few issues over the last 20 months of my new to me first time Ram. So far happy. Last night my wife called me underground at work ND said that she had picked the kids up at school and the truck stuck in reverse. She got a friend to take her and the kids home and I went at 3 this morning to look at it.

If it tries to shift into 5th (and slips, then aborts) it should set a P0735 fault, and put you into logical limp-in (1st and 4th gears only). If that is what's happening, you probably have a burned OD clutch. But if the TCM is never telling it to shift, then the problem is likely in the PCM (or the throttle or output speed reading).
