43 posts · Joined 2005. #1 · Nov 28, 2007. 38000mi 2005 Dodge Durango Limited w/ Hemi, many mods - exhaust, intake, shift kit, rims, you name it. Love it. Sounds mean as hell. But the STALLING! ugh - read on... RPM's would consistently fade below 500 upon deceleration (i.e. slowing for turns, traffic lights, etc.), shudder and then stall.1997 Dakota cranks but won't start. I've got a 97 Dakota 5.2 that won't start. At first it was intermittent. I noticed while cranking, the fuel gauge and the oil gauge weren't working. If they worked, the truck would start. After a few times starting, it quit and hasn't started since. Always starts first but won’t come back on after you turn off at gas station or after short drive. Brake is sort of hard can’t press through. Some of the behavior suggests a battery problem and I note you replaced the battery and the engine started and ran a bit but then died. Problem: Check engine will kick on with the code for the fan relay p0480..
