Chuck the brush in an electric drill and spin and low to moderate speed. Let it cool and polish some more. Then put some light gun oil on some new steel wool and run the drill some more.I have 2 11-48s and a Mohawk 48. The barrels will interchange because they are the same. The 11-48 was the first of the 48s and was a 5 shot. The "Sportsman" 48 had a 2 round mag tube making it a 3 shot. The "Mohawk" 48 was made in the early 70s and he final run of the 48s, it was a 5 shot. Keep the Faith

I have a low production Model 11-48, serial # 5500XXX, in 16 guage, with barrel code KWW 3, and the shotgun has a Polychoke installed on a barrel marked "FULL". I realize that the "3" in the barrel code means that the shotgun went back to Remington for something, and I am thinking that Remington might have installed the Polychoke at that time.

Earlier this year I sent my 20ga Remington Sportsman (3 shot Model 11) to Art's Gun Shop in Missouri to have a full strip and clean and one of their rebuild kits installed.
