If I check the logs in Sonarr, I can see report of the URL which it claims is failing - but I can access this api URL just fine from the same linux server running Sonarr (Ubuntu 16.04.4 LTS), using wget from command prompt - I don’t have gui installed on this ubuntu build. Some indexers are better for different things. I use 3 and while they share a lot (a lot a lot), one tends to have more UK stuff and one has more music, so there is a difference. Shop around, do some trials, grab some decent freebies. :) You can use the Sickbeard index with Sonarr, it's free and pretty good.Sonarr/radarr should handle moving the completed downloads to the media directory which jellyfin uses. I'm not sure what the connect is for either actually I might have a look later :) Yeah indexers for books and music in general are crap, I couldn't find any good ones :(
