I use it to avoid normal mobs attacks. It’s also good for speeding attacks with slow weapons. Jump attack, backstep attack, backstep backstep roll attack. Backsteps are quick, too, and don’t need recovery time. So against large enemies like bosses you can backstep after rolling, especially when you rolled back.

since backstep has no i-frames is it bad or just situational? many enemies will stay locked onto you if you try to dodge an attack too early therefore using the back step in these situation makes no sense and in other situations i can think of i dont see how a simple roll isn't better or if you want retaliation just counter attack after blocking.
