On another note though, MSRs will generate much more power per unit fission fuel than their solid-fuel counterparts, but are very tricky to build and the heat exchangers and turbines get very big very quickly, even for small reactors. On top of that, the fusion reactors are kinda broken and generate far too much power too easily.
Comparators on fusion reactors will output a signal proportional to the efficiency. The efficiency peaks at a certain heat level depending on fuel, then will drop off as the reactor continues to heat up. Then, go into an optimizer or design the reactor your self and stick with that fuel especially if you use an optimizer since the results are very specific to that fuel. If you want to use a lot of different fuels make a reactor with a very high negative number and whenever you switch fuels make sure you are heat negative.
With the redesign, it seems a reactor becomes tailored to a very specific combination of fuels. So it forces you to rebuild it each time you change fuels, or build a whole array (a single reactor isn't cheap at it is).
