While troubleshooting, I noticed that the metal contacts can be connected to bypass the bonnet, similar to what worked for bypassing the pinch. It would be great to find a way to bypass the DFI. Granted that could lead to poo smears on the globe, but I'm already in the habit of checking the robot frequently so that shouldn't happen.

Litter robot has been popular with bigger cats due to the size and the way it’s been designed. I'm pretty happy with the LR3, they are too expensive to just replace with the LR4 for no reason. The filter works very well and in either instance couldn't detect odors at all. It's important to keep an eye on it via the Whisker app. It connects to your robot, offers to nickname the machine (turd burglar), offers to send you notifications every time your kitty goes potty, to let you know of any errors immediately.
